  66. The Nyquist criteria doesn't apply to 146 MHz.  We can reasonably assume
  67. the signal is bandwidth limited for our purposes.  If we sample at twice
  68. the maximum expected modulation rate, we will meet the criteria.

  70. Actually, it may be argued that the Nyquist rate doesn't apply.
  71. We are merely trying to determine signals uniquely, not reproduce
  72. them precisely.  This is the basis of fingerprinting.  You don't 
  73. need a full color 3 dimensional image to incriminate someone, much
  74. less enough information to clone someone. :-).

  92. year?  It moved from the old Stricker's Grove location into the metro 
  93. Cinti area, but I don't know where.  Approximate directions or an address
  94. for the fest would be greatly appreciated; the FAQ only lists the mail
  95. address of the organizer....

  242. Hi all... I posted about this over a year ago and had no joy. I have
  243. a bit of new info and thought I would try again.

  245. I have acquired a Lafeyette KT-340 (tube-type) SW receiver with no
  246. documentation. I believe this model may have been the kit version of
  247. some other Lafeyette radio (HA-??? I saw one once that looked identical
  248. and now kick myself for not looking closer). Anyway, I will describe
  249. the set and ask anyone with a model like this (or a hollow-state
  250. reference book listing something like this) to contact me - even if
  251. it is just with the model number of the factory built version.
  252.  
  253. The set has nine tubes (1 5Y3G, 1 6AQ5, 2 6AV6, 3 6BA6, 2 6BE6)
  254. with at least 3 big 455KHz IF cans. The console has the following
  255. controls (left to right): Function (off/AM/Send/Q-mult), AF Gain,
  256. Selectivity (locks fully CW at "AM/SSB" marking), BFO-Q Multiplier,
  257. Band (4 position), IF gain, Ant Trim, AVC/MVC, ANL. Glass dial above
  258. with S-meter on left side and Main Tuning/Bandspread dials to the right.

  260. If someone recognizes my poor orphan, give a shout. I would be most
  261. grateful (and pay for) for a user manual, schematic or especially
  262. service/alignment instructions or copy of same.

  351. They split off the General questions from Tech in 1987, long before the 
  352. code test free Tech license came out. The idea was that the Techs didn't
  353. need to know the material on HF propagation, operation, and rules since
  354. they couldn't operate there. That made sense, but the FCC screwed it
  355. up. Instead of increasing the VHF+ questions, they just divided the
  356. old written in half because it was easiest for them to do. That made 
  357. the Tech written too easy.

  375. should require 5 wpm code knowledge and more theory than is tested
  376. now. It would allow full priviledges on all bands. Wayne also said he wants
  377. to see programs started in schools. Every school should have a ham club
  378. and actually teach electronics and amateur radio. This will most definitely
  379. advance the hobby and technology.

  462. quite common among the ham population using even a single repeater.

  477. of my questions.  I cannot speak for the originator, of course.

  490. Any estimate on how much data is required to be saved in a single
  491. "finger-print" record?  You do seem to thing that the characteristics
  492. will not change over time.  Guess we'll have to see if it ever does
  493. fly in the amateur radio community.  I guess if you wanted to deliberately
  494. be obnoxious, you could use a different radio only for that purpose.
